The Young Friends of Henry Street, a group of volunteers in their 20s and 30s, helped raise crucial funds for Settlement programs this year at the "Latin Nights" event held on March 8th, 2008. Over 125 guests participated in the event and raised almost $20,000 for Henry Street.
The new Latin theme warmed up a rainy March evening with hot food from Mary Giuliani's Kitchen, drinks from sponsors Gran Centenario Tequila, Firefly Vodka and Starr African Rum, and the energetic beat of Total Soul Party. While the band entertained the crowd streaming into the glamorous Prince George Ballroom, the Abrons Arts Center Ensemble and Junior Ensemble prepared to stun their audience with salsa and flamenco dance performances. After warming up the crowd, the dancers pulled guests onto the dance floor to show off their own talents.
The party continued late into the night, concluding with a raffle, gift bags and an afterparty at Marquis.
