Digitas Community Service Day Benefits Henry Street

450 Employees Volunteer Across Settlement Sites

July 19, 2012 - By Ryan Wenzel

Some 450 employees from the New York offices of Digitas braved sweltering heat to volunteer for a full day across Henry Street Settlement's program sites on July 18, 2012. This was the second consecutive year they volunteered at Henry Street as part of the advertising agency's Community Service Day.

The Digitas' employees many projects included landscaping at the Settlement's gardens; carpeting and repainting rooms; designing and painting murals at the Community Consultation Center and the Good Companions Senior Center's computer lab; and cleaning and organizing the Home Planning Workshop. The volunteers also threw a lively outdoor carnival, featuring music and dancing, for Henry Street seniors, as well as an ice cream party for children in Camp Henry, the Settlement's summer day camp.

"Our continued relationship with Digitas has illustrated the value of partnership," said Henry Street Executive Director David Garza. "The company's generous volunteer efforts allow us to provide our vital programs to New Yorkers in need far more effectively, and for that we couldn't be more grateful."
