Affordable Health Insurance

Henry Street Settlement's Health Care Access (HCA) program assesses eligibility for enrollment into New York State's affordable health insurance plans: Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus and/or Medicaid. If eligibility is determined, individual and family enrollment is completed on site at the HCA office (281 East Broadway).

Child Health Plus

The program's goal is to ensure that children with no health insurance have access to primary health care regardless of their immigration status at no cost, or at low cost.

To be eligible for Child Health Plus, the child must:

  • Be a resident of New York State
  • Be under the age of 19
  • Not be eligible for Medicaid
  • Not have equivalent health care coverage 

Family Health Plus

Family Health Plus provides free health insurance to adults who are New York State residents between the ages of 19 and 65.

To be eligible for Family Health Plus, the individual must:

  • Be a resident of New York State
  • Be between the ages of 19 and 65
  • Be a United States citizen or "qualified immigrant"
  • Not be eligible for Medicaid
  • Meet the income eligibility levels
  • Not have equivalent health insurance

Medicaid

This program is for low-income family members who are New York State residents.

To be eligible for Medicaid, the applicant must:

  • Be a resident of New York State
  • Be a United States citizen or "qualified immigrant"
  • Meet the income eligibility levels
  • Be under the age of 65
