 What is "aging in place"?
Aging in place is a phenomenon in which individuals who moved into housing when they were younger have remained there and grown older.

 What is a NORC?
Out of the approximately 1.25 million seniors that live in New York City, it is estimated that close to 400,000 "age in place" in apartment buildings, housing complexes and neighborhoods that were not originally built for them. This creates a NORC- a Naturally Occurring Retirement Community.

 What type of services do Senior Companions perform?
All activities at Senior Companions are free including: full gym access, arts, tai chi, bingo, crafts, ping pong, pool, computer classes, yoga, Latin dance, women's health groups, health and wellness classes, and more.

 What makes a person eligible to receive Senior Companion services?
Any person age 60 and over who is frail, homebound, or isolated is eligible to be matched with a Senior Companion.

 How do I become a member of the Senior Center?
Just stop by the center, at 334 Madison Street, and our case aides or social workers will register you.

 Does the Senior Center have trips?
The Center runs regular bus trips outside of New York City, as well as small van trips within the city to museums, shopping, movies, and restaurants.

 How do I get lunch at the Senior Center?
Lunch is served at noon, Monday through Friday. Sign in before 11:30 A.M. There is a suggested donation of seventy-five cents.

 How do I qualify for Meals-On-Wheels?
You must be aged sixty or over and homebound.

 How do I register for Meals-On-Wheels to receive lunches?
Individuals often refer themselves, or referrals come in from nurses, children, social workers, and neighbors. You must be at home during the time the lunches are to arrive.

 What if I have a doctor's appointment at the same time lunch is scheduled to be delivered?
You must inform the Center by 9:30 a.m. the day of the appointment. You will receive lunch the next day.

 How much are Meals-On-Wheels lunches?
There is a $1.50 donation for each lunch payable by cash or check. Collection days are every Monday.

 What if I don't want anyone to know I receive lunches?
The program is discrete and all information is confidential.
