Henry Street Settlement opens doors of opportunity for Lower East Side residents and other New Yorkers through social services, arts, and health care programs.
Workforce Development Center (99 Essex Street)
The third floor of 99 Essex Street has been the home of Henry Street Settlement’s Workforce Development Center (WDC) since 2003.
Located at the corner of Delancey Street, at one of the Lower East Side’s busiest intersections, the 6,500-square-foot program site was made possible through a $3 million gift from Rita Abrons Aranow. The WDC currently serves almost 200 clients per day through services that include interview preparation, resume revision, job search assistance, job coaching, career planning, post-placement services and customized staffing.
Prior to opening, the rental space underwent renovations to create classrooms, office spaces and a computer lab, and video monitors were installed for use with practice job interviews. Located at the corner of Essex and Delancey streets, the WDC is at the epicenter of the business district and pedestrian traffic on the LES.
