Henry Street’s Adult Literacy Program (HSE) prepares adults age 18 and above to take the TASC exam (formerly the GED exam).
Three levels of classes are offered: Adult Basic Education, Pre-HSE and HSE. Each class prepares students in math, reading, writing, science and social studies. All participants take an assessment test so they are placed in the proper class.
Classes are held in the evenings at 99 Essex Street and during the day at our Jacob Riis Cornerstone Community Center at 80 Avenue D. There is open enrollment, so students can join at any time. For more information, stop by 99 Essex Street or call 212.478.5400.
