High School Initiatives
Orchard Collegiate Academy is a Community Schools partnership between Henry Street Settlement and the Orchard Collegiate Academy, a public high school in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. This program provides a variety of services to every student grade 9th-12th and their families to support socio-emotional learning, improve attendance, encourage family engagement, and promote academic achievement including individual and group counseling, college readiness counseling and workshops, and Expanded Learning Time. The Community School program consists of a Community School Director, Social Worker, College Counselor, and social work interns.
Brooklyn Lab School Community School is a Community Schools partnership program between Henry Street Settlement and Brooklyn Lab School, a public high school in Cypress Hills/East New York Brooklyn, that prioritizes student wellness, readiness to learn, personalized instruction, community partnerships, and family engagement as key strategies to leverage better academic outcomes and improved attendance not only among high-need students, but the entire school population. The Community School Program consists of a Community School Director, Social Worker, Community Resource Coordinator and social work interns.
Urban Assembly Academy of Government and Law program provides academic improvement and counseling services to freshmen students at the Urban Assembly Academy of Government and Law (AGL), a public high school in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. This program supports freshmen transition to high school through individual counseling and academic advisement, and attendance improvement services. The program is made up of a High School Program Coordinator and social work interns.
Middle School Success Center (MSSC) is located at University Neighborhood Middle School in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. This Department of Education program provides students with assistance with the high school application process, including counseling, high schools visits, and both in-school and family workshops. The MSSC program consists of a Middle School Program Coordinator, Middle School Advisor, and Peer Leaders.
