Henry Street Settlement has acquired the Boys Project, a nationally-recognized leadership education program for low-income young men in high school. Henry Street’s Boys & Girls Republic (BGR) will now house the Boys Project programs.

“Henry Street has a great reputation for youth development work and we felt that the Boys Project program would thrive there with the right support and engagement,” said Cydney Pullman, Executive Director of The Boys Project.  “We started Boys Project on the Lower East Side, so it makes sense that we’d house it in a ‘local’ home.”

Boys and Girls Republic will absorb the Boys Project curriculum for BGR’s participants, including sessions for the participants on topics such as Media Messages, Healthy Relationships, and Conflict Resolution.

David Garza, Henry Street Settlement’s Executive Director, said of the acquisition, “We are pleased to add the Boys Project to the Henry Street family.  Their curriculum to help young men take control of their lives through positive actions will enhance our programming at BGR.”
