The Workforce Development Center (WDC) offers customized staffing services to assist employers in hiring and retaining qualified entry- and mid-level workers.

WDC offers the following services to employers free of charge:

  • targeted recruitment and screening
  • customized job candidate referral process
  • assistance with drafting of job descriptions
  • business-to-business referrals
  • placement of interns and volunteers
  • human resources information where relevant
  • employee mediation where appropriate
  • use of interview space/facilities
  • job retention services to employees

To date, WDC has developed relationships with more than 400 employers in the New York City area. WDC understands that employers play a critical role in our mission to assist job-seekers on their path to self-sufficiency and has the goal to develop long-lasting relationships with employers that value their workforce and have quality opportunities.

Lower East Side Employment Network (LESEN)

Henry Street is a founding partner of the Lower East Side Employment Network (LESEN) — an innovative collaboration of workforce development agencies that work in partnership with Community Board 3 on the Lower East Side to help businesses recruit, hire and retain quality candidates.

LESEN partner agencies represent the most experienced workforce development providers on the Lower East Side and across New York City. Collectively, they serve over 10,000 job seekers and 300 businesses every year. They have decades of experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government, public and private entities. Network partners have a proven track record of managing relationships and the ability to execute complex contractual requirements and meet challenging performance targets.
