The Art Show 2025 Is Unexpectedly Cancelled
By Barbara Kancelbaum

With sadness and disappointment, Henry Street shared the news on Friday, July 18, 2025, that The Art Show, our iconic annual fundraiser, held in partnership with the Art Dealers Association of America, was unexpectedly cancelled for 2025.
Proceeds from The Art Show have been the largest source of unrestricted revenue for the Settlement since the launch of this fundraiser 36 years ago. The Settlement is deeply fortunate to have had a long and mutually supportive relationship with the ADAA and cannot understate the profound impact The Art Show has had on our ability to meet urgent community needs with agility, resiliency, and compassion.
As soon as Henry Street learned that The Art Show would not be happening this year, the Settlement pivoted to launch a fundraising campaign—The Open Doors Initiative—to raise this revenue. At a time of profound need in our community, and amid extraordinary volatility in social services, education, and arts funding, we’re optimistic that our long-time, committed supporters will have our backs and respond generously.
Funds raised from The Art Show have granted Henry Street the ability to respond with agility, speed, and effectiveness to crises—from HIV/AIDS to 9/11, Hurricane Sandy, and the Covid-19 pandemic. They have been just as crucial in addressing the day-to-day struggles of low-income New Yorkers through vital services in employment and education, older adult services, transitional and supportive housing, health and wellness, and the arts.
