Henry Street Settlement opens doors of opportunity for Lower East Side residents and other New Yorkers through social service, arts, and health care programs.
Helping Horizons, located in P.S. 134 on East Broadway, serves children from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, Monday through Friday, 3-5:30 p.m.
Helping Horizons provides a safe environment, daily homework assistance, individual and group counseling, and exposure to a wide variety of enriching and educational activities through collaboration with Henry Street teaching artists, sports and recreation specialists and Department of Education teachers. Staff members — including skilled youth development professionals, college graduates, and college and high school students — add to the diversity and quality of our program by contributing their own experiences and educational backgrounds.
Our close proximity to Henry Street Settlement’s Abrons Arts Center gives students the opportunity to attend workshops, performances and other cultural events. We also take participants to our 301 Henry Street site for athletics and visual arts activities.
