Arts & Booksmarts
Event Description: Volunteers join our Early Childhood Classrooms as guest readers. Read a story to the class to promote literature and social skills and help children create a special craft project that relates to the storytime reading.
Number of Volunteers: 1-5
Preferred Dates/Times: Flexible
Suggested Sponsorship: $500+

Crafternoons with Youth
Event Description: Henry Street operates several afterschool programs across the Lower East Side, both in public elementary schools and at our two youth centers. Volunteers lead children in a craft activity and participate in games, reading stories, or other fun interactions. Crafternoons are themed around educational topics (for example STEM,) or around special holidays or times of year (for example Black History Month, Lunar New Year, Valentine’s Day, Women’s History Month, Earth Day, Cinco de Mayo, Juneteenth, etc.).
Number of Volunteers: 2-10
Preferred Dates/Times: M-F: 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.; 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.; 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
Suggested Sponsorship: $300+

Carnivals
Event Description: Come one, come all and help Henry Street’s Summer Camp participants enjoy a fun filled afternoon! During this much anticipated event, volunteers staff carnival booth stations (ring toss, mini basketball, bean bag toss, etc.), help students create carnival-themed arts and crafts, assist with face painting and temporary tattoos, and help create special goodie bags for each participant to take home. Carnivals generally take place outdoors and in open spaces to keep our volunteers and students safe and healthy. Carnivals are part of the Henry Street tradition and we are excited to have you join in on the fun!

Preferred Date/Time: 3:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
Suggested Sponsorship: $2,000+
